Through collaboration with EUP Principals and EUP Teacher Leaders, we have identified the following needs/focus areas:
*Support for school district Professional Learning Communities - Teacher implementation support around curriculum and instruction
*Projects such as the development of assessments, connection to place-based learning and grant writing to build resources.
Plan for the 2024-2025 school year:
Provide the opportunity for each school to identify a science teacher leader and connect them to this work. This may be done by grade span or however it makes the most sense for each school district. Our work will focus on equipping teacher leaders to lead at your school district and potentially at a regional level.
School District Professional Learning Days: Teacher Leader Corps meetings will be split into morning and afternoon sessions.
Morning: Teacher Leaders have identified the need to focus on a community of practice in which they can share through the observation of instruction. The mornings at the school districts will consist of structured peer observation of classroom instruction followed by reflection, discussion and professional learning. The goal is to increase instructional capacity and our ability to support high quality instruction.
Afternoon: Teachers who are interested in representing their schools in the EUP Science Teacher Leader Corps are invited to attend. This session will offer the opportunity for participants to:
*Gain an understanding of the role of the Teacher Leader Corps and how it can benefit you and your school.
*Serve as a TLC representative for your district.
*Plan regional TLC initiatives and develop resources to bring back to your district.
