coder translates details from a patient medical document, such as physician’s
notes, lab notes, procedures, and diagnoses into universal medical codes to
maintain accurate medical records. Healthcare
providers and insurance companies use these standardized codes for billing and
record keeping. Medical coders need to
have knowledge in medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, and
coding. They must be able to pay
attention to detail, time management and have analytical skills.
