Event Details

2024-25 HIV / Sex Education for Grades 4-12

 

This training includes a required online training module that must be completed prior to the live training (online module information received upon registration). Participants will learn to implement the MI Model"HIV/AIDS, & other STIs" curricula and district sex education advisory committees. Content includes: consequences of STIs, how STIs are and are not transmitted, abstinence promotion, avoidance of risky situations, and professional health services. Various sex ed curricula will be previewed.

 

Online pre-work will be shared first week of February if you are not attending the optional morning portion.

9:30-11:30 OPTIONAL - Time to complete pre-work

11:30-12:00 Lunch - All are welcome!

12:00-3:30 Live Training at Marquette Alger-RESA

Learner Outcomes
Participants will be able to differentiate between HIV education and sex education, and understand the legal requirements of both. Participants will leave with an increased knowledge of HIV/STI’s and modes of transmission, and understand ways to convey the possible negative consequences of sexual behaviors. Participants will understand the process of establishing a sex ed advisory board (SEAB), the legal requirements and the role of the SEAB members.
