Building Capacity and Promoting Instruction Through PASA DLM

Participation is required for special education teachers administering the PASA-DLM including those in low-incidence/specialized classrooms and the LEA’s special education administrator/director. It is highly encouraged that building administrators where specialized classrooms sit or have special education teachers administering the PASA attend as well to support instruction for students with significant cognitive disabilities. Further optional participants include general education teachers supporting students who take the PASA-DLM in inclusive settings and PASA Assessment Coordinators who oversee special education programming.

Highlights of the training will include a walkthrough of the PASA-DLM website to support special educators with instruction aligned with the PA Core Standards. The purpose of this training is to show how the Essential Elements build a bridge from the general education standards and academic expectations for students with significant cognitive disabilities. Participants will explore essential elements and linkage levels along with supporting resources to design effective instructional programming that works towards firm and rigorous goals.
