TOPICS: Professional Development Series

The TOPICS Series provides information on a range of special education issues, including:

• What is that Eligibility, and How Do I Support?

  • learn the impact of the top four eligibility areas (SLD, ASD, EI, and CI) in our communities, and provide strategies for effectively working with students impacted by those eligibility areas.

    
    
• Assistive Technology: Make and Take

  • engage in learning around SETT models, as well as, tips and tricks for using assistive technology in the classroom. Participants will have an opportunity to complete a make and take assistive technology for use in the classroom..

    
    
• LRE, What Does that Mean?

  • engage in learning around MDE-OSE guidance for least restrictive environment (LRE). CGRESD special education leaders will present information regarding current work within local districts to support students in least restrictive environment practices.  

    
    
• Executive Functioning

  • join guest speaker/facilitator Tera Sumpter for a full day of learning as she supports the understanding of executive function and provides resources to support students in the classroom.
